Janice and I had traveled most of Wisconsin, and for the most part, had enjoyed every region. It was not until we visited the Presque Isle area, while staying for a week at a friend’s house on Red Lake that, we knew we wanted to live/vacation here on a permanent basis. The rolling hills, pristine lakes, and the quiet serenity of the area really drew us. We purchased a lot in bay #2 in 1989. In 1990 (we couldn’t wait to do something) we cleared some lake frontage for a dock and launching point. A mound system was installed in 1993. Finally work was begun on the cottage in the spring of 1995. It took, with the help of a good friend, about seven weeks to get the home in livable condition, (talk about a labor of love). Janice and I completed the interior later that same year. A three-season porch was added in 1997. It was in 1998 that we had a chance to lengthen our lake frontage. It has been one of life’s great experiences for us. We have had some great times, made some dear friends, and have met some wonderful people.
